An Ivory Wedding Dress Compliments the Skin Tone

Traditionally, brides wear white. Some brides look fantastic in stark-white, flowing gowns. Some do not. Many women have fair skin. These brides look pale and washed out when they wear white. Redheads also look a little odd in the traditional white gown. A good alternative for these ladies is an ivory wedding dress.
You can find nearly any style in an ivory wedding dress as you can in the traditional white. Many women like the idea of using a little color while still wearing “white” on their special occasions. The ivory wedding dress compliments just about every skin tone without giving a washed-out look that stark-white often does.
Many women go through a number of beauty-enhancing rituals before the big day. If you have rich, dark hair and you are spending hours each week going to a tanning bed you may want to stick with a white bridal gown. Women of color may also fair better with the traditional gown because the skin tones are rich and lovely. There is little chance of looking washed out no matter how white the bridal attire is. The contrast can be stunning and literally breathtaking.
Some ladies do not tan. If you are one of those girls who goes through a summer cycle of burn-peel-freckle, burn-peel-freckle, you are a prime candidate for an ivory wedding dress. The added tones and colors will offset fair skin while white will wash it away. You want to enhance your alabaster skin, not wash it off.
Redheads often fair better in an ivory wedding dress. There are two basic kinds of redheads. The first is the classic vibrant red and the second is the auburn redhead. The fist commonly boasts natural curls with the orange-red locks while the latter may appear to be a brunette in certain lighting. I fall into the latter category.
Even though I don’t burn-peel-freckle I do have auburn hair. There was little worry about my looking washed out but I found that I looked much better in an ivory wedding dress than I did in white. After trying on a number of white gowns that just weren’t quite right, I finally caved in and tried on an ivory wedding dress.
There was no turning back after that. The ivory wedding dress complimented the auburn highlights in my hair and it still looked quite white in contrast to the attendants’ burgundy-wine gowns. It is always a good idea to keep an open mind when trying on bridal attire.
